Venture Capitalist Pay: Salary, Carry, and Bonus

Here are the typical salaries for Venture Capital careers. Please note that this data can be very misleading. Once a venture capitalist moves up in a fund, many more factors are included in how much money they make.
They include:
-Bonus: Bonuses vary greatly by performance. A typical bonus for a 1st year analyst would be around 20-40k. Bonuses also include “Deal Sourcing Bonuses” for finding and executing an investment opportunity.
-The Carry: Venture Capitalists distribute 20-30% of the profit amongst themselves before paying back investors.
-Size of the fund: A Managing Director from a top-tier fund may make $50 million over the life of the fund (a few years), and an MD from a small firm might only make 1/100th of that.
