My post on the Top 10 Colleges for Venture Capitalism looks specifically at the undergraduate level. This post looks at the Graduate Schools of 110 Managing Directors from the Top 20 Venture Capital Firms by Investment. The numbers are extremely in favor of Harvard and Stanford, which collectively made up over half of the total number of Managing Directors who attended graduate school, 103 out of 110. Altogether, the importance of obtaining a postgraduate degree in the pursuit of a managerial position at a top tier venture capital firm is quite evident. Most commonly, managing directors pursued an MBA over other degrees.
The Top 10 (in order): Harvard, Stanford, No Graduate School, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia, Dartmouth, Cornell, Virginia, MIT, Northwestern, and University of Chicago.
